Founded on 3rd July 1957 by Ivor Bulmer-Thomas in Committee Room 13 of the Houses of Parliament, we now own nearly 50 ancient and beautiful churches saved from demolition, decay, or unsympathetic conversion. We have campaigned for and helped to save thousands more. And we do all this with the equivalent of just two full time staff, sharing an office with the Ancient Monuments Society, and relying on the goodwill and commitment of hundreds of volunteers.
