Castlemartin* church in Pembrokeshire is special for many reasons – but perhaps the most unusual is the important role it plays in ‘bat training’. The church is home to at least seven different species of bat, and as such it’s the perfect venue for training ecological consultants. Kite Ecology have been using the church for just that for a number of years, and this delightful brown long-eared bat was recorded at a recent session in June. The church will be closed on 18th-19th July for further training sessions.
* Castlemartin is one of our very latest vestings – more on this coming soon!
